Total Care
When "Total Care" was introduced by VAC Service in 1986, it was a revolutionary new concept in service protection for the consumer, one of the many "firsts" achieved by VAC as it pioneered service in North America.
Total Care was made available to anyone who purchased an extended service plan administered by VAC Service (known in 1986 as Video Aid Corporation). By purchasing a service plan to protect a newly-purchased appliance, consumer electronics or other covered product, the consumer is able to rely on VAC as their personal service advisor.
The consumer can call VAC to consult with us about virtually any electrically- or battery-powered product they own, especially if they are having a problem they need expert advice about. VAC will find and recommend to them service centers, assist them through the process of obtaining service, and follow up to ensure their satisfaction. "It doesn't cost a penny," noted VAC President Jim Tucker when he announced this revolutionary new service in 1986. It still doesn't.
Total Care continues to represent a powerful marketing tool for the retailer. At no cost to them, it provides dealers with the opportunity to develop a more important relationship with their customers, especially if the selling dealer also provides service (if they qualify they can become a VAC-recommended service center). And, alas, if the consumer's product is beyond repair, we can send them back to the retailer for a replacement--and the opportunity to offer a new product protection plan.
